Chilled and friendly coliving space close to the beach
Skippers is a place where you can both grind on your projects and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Firstly, the vibe at Skippers is all about community. Whenever someone new arrives we try to organise a dinner with all the guests, whether it’s just a pizza on site or at one of the amazing places nearby.
You get to meet other like-minded travelers and digital nomads, making it easy to find people to grab dinner with or just hang out by the pool. The team, especially Duncan and Leli, are known for being incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready to jump in if you need anything.
What we are…
- Small community: We are very new and Kenya is a little off the beaten bath. But despite that since opening on average have had 4-5 room occupied which means there’s usually 5-8 people around – On the occasions it’s a bit quieter we usually organise some special trips;
- Shared dinners and activities: Our head of fun Leli organises local trips to places like African Pool and Shimba Hills, on a Friday evening it’s not unusual to have the whole team and guests out at local bar for a few drinks;
- Long stays: We generally don’t accept bookings of less than 4 weeks. When there are gaps between bookings we’ll make exceptions but generally most people are long stays – It’s not been unusual for nomads to come for 4 weeks and end up staying for 8-10 because there’s so much to do;
- Friends for life? We’re super proud that so many of our guests have ended up travelling together and meeting up around the world. For us that’s a one of the best marks of success.
What we are not…
Skippers is not a luxury hotel where you will be waited on hand and foot. You have to wash your dishes and make your own coffee. We’re always around to help but the expectation is that you’ll get involved.
In a nutshell, staying at Skippers feels like being part of a little community, with all the amenities you need to work and enjoy your downtime. It’s a good balance of productivity, activity and relaxation in a beautiful coastal setting.
